This years set up

KenCasstevens Mar 20, 2007 11:27 AM

I decided to change things a little this year. Instead of an aquarium I'm using a 90qt sterilite container, and instead of bricks I'm using some white racks I picked up at Home Depot. I just used a sodering gun, and burnt a few holes in the top, and put a submersible tank heater on the botton. The little suction cups wouldn't hold the heater down so if you'll notice in the close up I had to use ceramic napkin rings. I got this design from a picture that Michelle sent me a long time ago. What do you guys think?

I believe it's a 75 watt. I'm still adjusting what temp to set the thermostat at.

Alright Kinion. You better get that thing set up baby. I see you are going to have more snake time now. That could be a blessing this time of year. Good luck on yours as well.

It looks good, the only thing I do differnt is I don't put holes in my top or anywhere on the main tote. The first year i used this method knats got in the holes so i just put a few holes in the egg chambers for air exchange.

I wasn't going to, but then I figured I'd just put a few little ones in there. If I have a problem with humidity I'll stop them up.

Nice. Where do you live? I used a set up similar when I'd incubate indoors with my a.c. on and it kept my house below 78F. I now just use my snake room.
Your snake room is most likely at around 80F right?
Put 'em in a gladware and close the lid....open once a week for a bit. That's about all I do these days.

Thanks Mark. I live in Memphis, TN. You're right. My snake room averages about 80. I have thermometers from the floor to about 6 1/2 feet up. I put the ones on the lower shelves (78-79) that haven't eaten, and the ones that are full are put on the higher shelves (80-82), and just rotate them.
