There is a picture of some in Applegate's Milk Snake book but I don't know of anyone working with them. If I had a scanner, I would post the picture for you but I don't. Maybe someone that does will post it.

The snakes in Applegate's book were owned by Don Hamper many (at least 10) years ago. Since none have been offered on the market since that time (at least none that I know of), it's pretty safe to say that there aren't any around anymore.

Not true.

There is someone working with a line of them right now.

However, I doubt we will see any on the market until they established in his collection.

But they are out there.

you inquired about, and yes, it is of many years ago. The book is a 1992 publication!, you'd think there would be a large number of these on the market by now!LOL...................Doug

I was going to post that! There was also an article by Al Winstel and pic of an albino eastern in "The Vivarium" in the 1990s. I wonder is any existing lineages are based on those old ones.

Don't know,....but it sure does seem strange that you don't see the market flooded with them by now!!,....I wonder if there was some fertility problems?........I think I bought a poss.het albino Colombian Boa from Don Hamper back in 97. Like an idiot, I didn't buy all that he had, or else I would have produced some a long time ago!!LOL.....I just got the one as a pet for my girlfriend!....oh well!!....life goes on!..................Doug

I think the only problem with the line was that people didn't believe it was pure. Some thought the amel easterns as crosses with Emory Rat Snakes... I assume you could ask Don Hamper about the line. LOL. Actually. Didn't he get arrested last year? I wonder what happened with that.

Supposedly. As of a couple years back... A guy in PA, name is Greg Heckenburger (I THINK that's his name), was working with the amel eastern line.

Yeah, I can see how people might THINK that was the case!lol. I'm sure, like you said, Don could shed some good light on that!......from what I see in the photo, they look as "pure" as the driven snow,........but now that you mention it, Don does look pretty "shadey"!!LOL...............................Doug

Don acquired the albino eastern as a w/c animal well before the arival of albino emories. He retained the animal for several years but had no luck breeding it. Last I heard it was sold to a collector in Germany.

Tony,......Thanks for the info!,....I can imagine how disappointed he must have been to have something that unique, and have no luck for several years!!.....I think that I still would have kept it though, and tried almost everything, for a longer time......but then again,....maybe he did! Doug

Well I'd Imagine that if there were some in captivity, its only a matter of time (maybe a long time) before another pops out. (Unless all died or something freaky) But Mike said there apparently are some out there so it won't be too long. Also I think maybe a reason could be that people were'nt that attracted to them because of the teeny hatchling size or something like that.
