I just can't wait any longer (PICS)

waspinator421 Mar 20, 2007 04:46 PM

Hi everyone. I got this beautiful High Orange female BRB last week. I took some pictures the other day, but wasn't going to post them right away. I was going to wait until I got the two females I'm waiting on from Dave, get some pictures of them, and show them off in one post. Well, weather has fouled up again, and I just can't wait to show off this little gem.

She was sold to me as an '04, but she seems a little small in my opinion. I'm still new to BRB, so it could be normal. But compared to my male, Indigo, she's still a squirt. Hopefully I can get some size and weight on her for breeding next year, but we'll see.

I've named her Sable, and here are a bunch of pictures of her:

Love the color and she is beautiful. Remember if you're trying to breed 5.5 feet and 3.5 lbs would be ideal and you can't take bad pics of that snake either

Thanks for the compliments, Bob. Yeah, I definetely won't push her to breed if she's not ready. I'll be making sure she's nice and big and healthy so she can handle the stress of reproduction.

That's one I wouldn't mind having in my own collection.

I have an '04 that was definately too small to breed this year. Should be fine for next year. What's her weight? Who produced her, what history do you know?

BTW, is that scale damage in front of the left eye? Could be remnant of rodent defensive bite and could indicate why the BRB is a little small?

Oh my.... I just checked her out after you said that. She does appear to have a very small blemish on the edge of that scale, I didn't notice it before. Could very well be from a rodent bite.

She is 616 grams (1.35 lbs.) and I haven't been able to measure her yet. She's gotta be at least 3.5 to 4 feet, though. The seller got her as a baby from a petstore in Chatsworth, CA called Exotic Life. That's pretty much all I know about her history. The seller didn't know who the breeder was that supplied the store.

Definitely on the small side, maybe large enough by this fall but not certain.

Interestingly enough, there's a remote possibility that's one of mine. I sold a 40 lot in 2004 to EBV who in turn sold them to someone else in socal.

Wouldn't that be funny! I do know that the seller also had a Bullseye female that was from you. I assume, though, that since they knew the breeder for that one, that they got it directly from you.

Yeah, I had 83 babies that year. Was still relatively new to breeding and overwhelmed and didn't have a website and was not a recognized name breeder etc. so I sold off a bunch. Now if I had 83, I could probably sell them all retail and still run out!!

I also didn't know bullseyes from normal...lucky buyers!

She's the female equivalent of my male!

She's a stunner! What a beaut... gotta love her.

Good luck... and if ever consider parting ways - consider me first!
