Feeding live prey

deskjockey Mar 21, 2007 10:40 AM

I just got a ball python this week (he might be 3 to 4 months old) and the guy at the store I bought it from said he fed it live and it ate(took that as a good sign of it being healthy). I want to continue feeding it live prey and was wondering if I should hold onto the mouses tail with a pair of tongs or just let him run around and watch the snake do its thing?
Thanks for the help

You could use tongs which is probably saver that way you know that your snake has neutralized its prey immediatly ,or you could just place the prey item into the tub, but if you take the second suggestion make sure you observe your snake neutralizing its prey to make sure that they prey item does not run around loose in your enclosure and cause the snake harm.
