My female flying gecko is ill. She did not eat yesterday, so I was watching her closely. This morning I found her laying in an odd place near her water leaf/bowl. I picked her up. This is never an easy task but it was today. She moved little and seemed really cold. I moved her to a small plastic transport carrier lined with a warm moist paper towel and placed a small tank heat pad along the side for warmth. She was contracting her extremities and shuddering. Her mouth would gape and then she would swallow. As she did this her eyes would sink back into her skull some. I laid her out on a warm surface and examined her. I see nothing obvious like a stuck egg or anything. The sinking eyes made me think she might benefit from fluids so as a last ditch effort, I gave her some subcutaneously and then put her back in the carrier to rest. I checked on her several times and she seemed to be improving some. I took her out a short bit ago and she could hold her head up again. I examined her and this time I noticed some areas on her underside seem very yellowish. I gave her a bit more fluid and put her back to rest. Do lizards go Jaundice? Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have had her, Ruffles, for over a year and she is a full grown adult. Her mate, Swiffer, is fine and is acting normally. They are very active and good cricket eaters. The crickets are always dusted before feeding. Ruffles has produced 3 eggs since last fall.

i would take it to an experienced herp vet. sounds like an infection or eggbound or something. however i have no idea because i dont have any geckos like that. sounds like what you are doing however is what i would do. you can also give her a little bit of Ensure, the vanilla shake drink for old people! it has a lot of vitamins and calcium in it and so forth. when i am trying to nurse any adoptions or anybody who had to have surgery that is what i hand feed them. i have used this only on leopard geckos, fat tailed geckos, and cresteds. that is what my vet has told me works good and it seems to. I know you posted a while ago now, sorry nobody wrote to you sooner.
