Mystery death

Nir Mar 21, 2007 05:12 PM

I just lost a big black milk male... and the thing is I really don't know what could've happened! He ate, just shed, had good temps, had water... Anyone has any insight on what could've happened? Should I worry about my other milks (hondos, andeans and blacks)

It sounds like you took good care of the snake to me. And any form of life can come to an abrupt end for many reasons. Snakes(like humans) can die with absolutely no signs whatsoever. These things just happen sometimes, and there is no real answer. I think everyone that has enjoyed owning snakes for any length of time, has also had the same thing happen to them.........so I doubt you had anything to do with it.......................Doug

Thanks, I'm kind of freaking out right now... I just received today new black milks and inca andeans so I'm always checking temps and worrying about their well being... It's tough on the moral when one of your prized specimen dies with no sign whatsoever of no well being...

Anyway, thanks for the kind words!

Boy, sorry to hear about that. A young fella too. There's not a whole lot you can do about some things.

the only way you will know for certain is to put the animal in the refrigerator (not a freezer) and try to get it to a vet the next day to have a necropsy done on it.
