I have to mist my retics at least 3 times a week due to living in the desert to get them to shed in one piece. It works most of the time but sometimes you end up seeing this.

Everyone I know with a retic keeps them on newspaper and has NO shedding problems.

When I used aspen, my guy shed in one peice but on newspaper seems not to. In fact I mist and the humidity is at 60% to 70% all the time and still no go.

Give him a good soak. Try feeding more. Use UV. Some people like aspen. I don't. A well fed snake on UV will pretty much always shed in one piece. Skinny, underfed snakes with low humidity have shed problems more often. If he sheds on aspen and not paper it would be because it provides friction to get the shed off. Make sure you change it often though-mold on aspen really blows up.

my humidity is always between 55 & 65% and mine have never given me a one piece shed, most of the people I know with retics will tell you the same thing.as hatchlings they normaly will give one piece sheds but it seems after they reach a certain size the sheds go down hill from there.

mine always shed in pieces - even misting them, etc. ALWAYS

try getting a rubbermaid with a lid on and drilling some holes in the side and top and filling the box with moss and a few inches of water. this seems to work for me and this way you don't have to change substrate.

I use newspaper and I've never had a problem. Not to insult your husbandry or anything but are you sure your humidity is at the right level? I mist daily and soak my animals when they go into blue.

the hum. is at 65 to 68 most of the time, sometime it goes up to 73 . and they still shed in 3 to 4 pieces . i was just wondering is there other bedding out there that will hold moister so you don't have to mist all the time.
thank you
