Monitors that can live in 48"longx18x20?

Are there any other monitors besides ackies that can live comfy in a 48" long x 18" wide x 20" tall tank?

Sure... but why? If you can afford to, go much bigger- build a cage- go bigger than you had ever planned on going. Many of the odatria are smallish but can get very pricey as Ackies once were(that is a heck of a lizard that you are avoiding...). I would go with the ackie or chose a different lizard all together- maybe an alligator lizard or skink of some kind. A 55 is not much space or much of a life for a lizard as active as a monitor. On second thought; monitors are a lot of fun, to me, so I say get the bigger cage and the ackie to house in it too. Best to you- Mike

Any of the smaller under 30"tl. Ackie would be a good choice. I would go bigger than that if it where mine. They will use the space.
