From what I heard they imported them from England. They have not revealed the breeder's name or the exact origin of the animals.
A few people actually think they are not legal although they already made it into the USA.
I am not a chameleon expert but the animal do look great. It is a shame they are so expensive but I guess that way they go to experts.

These animals are 100% legal, complete with breeder's statements and all CITES paperwork.

If you were more familiar with NERD you would also know that we are an extremely well-established business with way too much to lose over dealing with illegal animals. We simply do not do it.

Thank you!

People tend to start rumors and hearsay without having a clue.
I find it funny that a well known business would risk there good name and love of reptiles over a few Parsons.
I think it would have been easier for them (the rumor mill) to directly ask you instead of posting gossip because Jimmy knows Frank, and Steve who knows the original owners thinks they were smuggled in and ended up with you.
Besides why would anyone with an ounce of common sense post pictures of illegally obtained reptiles for the world to see?
Hmmm...

Kara, good luck with them and the babies.

Disclaimer: I in now way know have any personal of business relationship with N.E.R.D or it's staff..

I live in NH, not far from where NERD is located, and although I have never been there the herpers that I know (esp. snakes) say they are excellent in every way - only one person said anything negative but he owns a pet store. Again this is not first hand experience but from respected NH herpers.

Well, I just got back from picking up a female from the group they got in and I'll throw in what I have discovered.

Regarding their legality, the CITES papers have the stamp of approval from all agencies involved making them completely legal. Furthermore, I do not believe they are from any questionable source. It would be very difficult to locate 13 juvenile parsonii that were all the same size, as healthy as these animals are and completely clean without any scaring or anything else if they were in fact WC. Those who question their legality have only ulterior motives and absolutely nothing to go on except their own complexes.

Regarding NERD, I spent a nice amount of time talking to them and touring their facility as they were packing up animals for shipment to customers and for the Daytona Show. I was very impressed with their knowledge they have and their animals (even if one of Kevin's prize ball pythons decided to have a go at my hand ). Their animals were well cared for and it is very obvious to me that they know what they are doing.

Regarding my female, she is absolutely adorable and as healthy as can be. After arriving home and being placed in her enclosure, she promptly eat for me and indulged herself in a healthy, typical parsonii sized drinking session (they are like little camels). I couldn't be more pleased and intend on conducting further business with NERD in the future.

Just my personal experience.

Chris

Well it is good to know that they are indeed 100% legal as I was wondering how in the world they got past USFW if they weren't. I guess they are all clutchmates then. Maybe next time around more Parson's will come in cheaper and maybe even Globifer, Minors, Brevicornis and Balteatus.
Fingers crossed

Congrats! Did you just get one or more? I didn't ask if they had more than one bloodline. I assumed that they didn't and felt that only serious inquiries would be appreciated. I have not the time nor space to give them the proper care they require. I hope that you have success with them. I would like to see more people beginning to make an effort at establishing the Parson's in captivity. I hope to have the space available within 2 years. We're saving for a house, so hopefully there will be a limited amount of CB specimans available.

Sincerely,

Larry Lockard

I only got the one female. She is still far to young to breed at this point which gives me time to get a male to breed her. I feel that this is a species that should only be kept by those who are going to make an effort to try to breed them so obtaining a male for her is a priority of mine.

I did ask them and they did say they had multiple bloodlines. Its rare to have parsonii babies, let a lone multiple bloodlines. So if you'd like to get a pair, now's your chance!
