I have a female spotted python that shed about a week ago and when I took he out to feed her yesterday a noticed she had some shed left on the tip of her tail. I tried to gently peel it off, but only got a little bit off. Anyone got any ideas on what to do and how to make sure it doesn't happen again? These are desert type snakes....

You can put your snake in a damp pillowcase for a couple of hours. As it moves around, the shed usually comes off against the pillowcase.

I had a terrible time getting mine to shed properly at first. I keep them on sand, and they have a favorite hide, so when I notice one is in the blue I simply pour water onto the sand under the hide. Works everytime!

Soak the snake in a container with about 1/2" deep of water, for a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes for this time until the stuck piece is loose enough to pull apart.

BTW, although they inhabit dry areas, spotteds do very well with an occasional soak (like every 2 weeks) as described above.

In the wild they stay in the ground or in other hides that afford protection from drying out, and they move around at night alot for the same reason. Their wet season provides lots of moisture for them in some areas where they live.
