Remembering the warm summer of Victoria

Well the weather has been horrible in Victoria BC so I've been looking at old photos and here's a photo of a garter snake I caught last august at Sooke Potholes in Victoria. Probably also the prettiest garter snake I've caught also. I was just going for a swim and I saw about 5 red legged frogs 2 garter snakes and a bunch of crayfish. Great day when not even looking for herps.

Oh and here's a photo from last march when the garter snakes just came out of their dens and If you look closely there's about 10-15 snakes in the photo. I saw over 50 garter snakes that day. Best reptile day I've ever had. My mom was with me and she has the biggest phobia of snaks and she refuses to go to that park during march and April now.

WOW,
Talk about blending in with your surroundings! I cant find one! But let me keep looking and I will. That is a sweet garter on the previous page.

Nice Pics.

Nice looking garter. What kind is it? I kept thinking northeast USA/Canada but BC is on the west. Not too sure what is over in that area.

I'm pretty sure it's a North West garter snake and in the second photo I know they are North West garter snakes.

VERY cool!

It's the best finding snakes when you're out looking for them, but a real special treat to find them when you're not even looking!!!

The SD Gopher below I found driving home duing afternoon rush hour last summer in San Diego crossing the road at a stop sign. He was a BIG boy! I pulled over, stopped traffic in both directions, and moved him along to the field he was headed toward for a quick photo shoot and release...
