Gecko Table?

eminart Mar 22, 2007 10:48 AM

I'm just curious. Has anyone ever used an open enclosure for leos? I mean like a tortoise table. I know you'd probably have to put a lip around the edge in case they were able to climb the sides, but it seems like it might be a great way to make a large leo home. I also think it could look quite attractive.

Here's a pic of my tortoise table. I think something like this would work well.

Looks like a good idea. One of the big problems would be if you fed crickets, making sure that they stay in there. Also, I don't know if you have cats or if there are people who would be playing with your pets that aren't allowed. The custom cage forum might be able to help you out with this.

if I left the tank open, twig would get out. He likes escaping. He's even tipped his hide over and climbed on it to get out when I left the lid open a tiny fraction. There's no way he'd stay put in the tortoise pen. That little guy used cunning and guile and he like to roam!

I don't have lids on most of my tanks! I just don't put things that they could climb that high. I have no problems with them at all. You could try and see what happens i would make sure it's in a visible spot to watch for a few hours though.
