This is my first time owning a snake, she is a Trans Pecos Rat Snake, a little over 4 months old. I bought a 20L tank that already had an undertank heater. So I figured that would work for basking, but I am trying to get the overall temp of the tank up. Right now it is 72 in my house and I have one UVA, UVB light strip(on 12 hour cycle) and a nightime bulb on 24 hours and I still haven't seen a real rise in the temp. I was going to buy those heat bulbs but how do I keep from one spot getting too hot? And my snake won't stay on the heater, she burries herself in the Aspen on the otherside of the tank up against the glass and when I pick her up she is cold.
I have been trying to read up on what to do but everyone has different opinions...PLEASE HELP
And where do I put the hide box with this undertank heater? On top, beside? I have one on both ends.
