Anyone have experience finding Northern pines in NJ pine barrens? I'm going out this weekend to look for them. Like some tips for searching for them, or, any good locals.

I'm not trying to be the snake police, but you know they are completely protected by the state of NJ right?
Its not illegal to photograph them.
Good luck convinceing the park rangers that that is all you attend to do. Count on being searched if you are found with one or if you look like your snake hunting. They are very strict up there and rightfully so. Probally a better bet to try and get some permits before you go looking for em, just to be safe.
Be carefull and more importantly, respectfull to the pine population!

prolly won't see any this weekend, they'll all be snugged up since the weather is going to be bad. I live right in the heart of pine territory, and search for them regularly, unfortunatly they are getting very hard to find, and I can't give out locations to people I don't know, especially over a forum like this. When out looking, take only a camera, not hooks, sticks or bags, Fish and Game are done messing around. Your best bet to see one is to stop in to a local park, find the Interperative center and talk to someone there, if you can convince them you are not going to take one, they may tell you where the last one was sighted.
good luck, but then again, I wouldn't expect to see anything at all this weekend...

Didn't bother to look since the weather is all crappy? Maybe next time I'm visiting my parents, we can look together.
