Help for ACF with infection

mandysdarkside Aug 12, 2003 06:56 PM

I really need some help on this... I've had these two Grow-a-Frogs for a couple of years with no problem, but a couple of weeks ago I noticed a swollen area on the males wrist. It's not as swollen as it was, but now his finger on the same hand is swollen, and there's a spot on his nose as well. It looks kind of red and raw, and sort of fuzzy like it's some kind of fungal infection. Any ideas as to what might be causing this, and how to treat it? The other frog seems to be fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I replied to your first post.

Looks like a standard bacterial infection. Keep the frog a bit warmer and a bit cleaner (in a diff. tank) until you can get it to a vet. Baytril will probably cure it in a little over 2 wks. Andy

don't you mean keep it cooler? this is an amphibian we're talking about.
or is there something unique to pipids which calls for warmer temps when ill?

Put him in a small tank, add some table salt, and mar-oxy(found at your local pet store)
