I was thinking the other day, collard lizard eggs need quite a bit of care to hatch, like the right humidity, and the right temps. In the wild how can this work. Close to the suface it is warm, but extemely dry. And deeper in the ground is moisture, but it is really cold. It's almost suprising collard lizards don't have live birth.

Does any body know how it works?

Maybe if it is a shallow tunnel and they are buried, they get the moisture from below and the warmth from above?

I am intrigued

Sadly without any tv program or any books on Collareds out there we can only guess based on other lizard of similiar types and locations.

Anyone contact Animal Planet, yet???

I believe they bury them deep enough that there is moisture/dmapness but not so deep that the earth on and around them would be cold. Probably bury them about 5- 6 inches I would think.
