Where are the Parsons coming from?

sned25271 Mar 22, 2007 09:00 PM

Where are the Parsons that are available in the classifieds coming from? Are they imports or is a breeder selling offspring to retailers?

Do they look captive born to you?

The few that are being offered by Chris Anderson and Bluebeast lately are older juveniles that came in a year ago. They are prestine animals, in perfect condition, and certainly well cared for without question. Prime stock without doubt. I wish I could afford them as they are coming from great people that truly care about their animals.
Its been told to me that these one year old parsonii, and the few younger ones that are coming in now, are actually farm hatched from Madagascar, shipped to Europe, then shipped to the US and labeled as 'captive born'.
I have contacted at least 5 European breeders from Germany, The Netherlands, and Britain, and no one knows of a European breeder that is producing this many offspring and selling to the US. Unfortunately, I don't know of any US breeders reporting a successful hatch at this time. I hope there are or at least that some are close
I'm betting the farm hatched reports are true. It is legal to export farm hatched animals to Europe and other countries, just not to the US at this time. Too bad too, cause I'll bet the mark up for these little guys is at least 400% by the time they reach the classifieds adds.
Understand that I do not know, without question, the history of these parsonii personally, only what has been told to me by parsonii owners here in the US and those in Europe that I have spoken with. I could be mistaken and apologize if anyone out there can offer more concrete information.

Thank you for your reply!!

Unless CITES lifted the ban and I didn't hear about, it is absolutely NOT legal to export ANY Calumma parsonii regardless of wc, farm-raised, cb status from Madagascar to the pet trade anywhere.

I assumed the first post was concerning the recent group of European imports that were for sale rather than the others since they explained the respective sources. Anyways, this explains what's going on with parson's:

I don't know if Kammerflage Kreations is advertising on kingsnake, but they have parsoni babies listed on their website. I know they hatched them.

The Kammer's Parsons came from Europe.

I'd like to hear feedback from anyone that bought from Underground last week, as some of the animals from that same shipment were returned because they looked wild caught. I haven't seen pics from anyone that kept theirs, and I'm curious how they look. Shoot me an e-mail if any of you bought them last week, I'd like to touch base.

They were returned?? Wow. The 3 pics that were posted to represent this group definately looked wild caught and presumably those were the best looking to be used in the ad.
