DUDE! Also, free roaming chams

loconorc Mar 22, 2007 09:37 PM

OMG! Feenie, your chams are gorgeous! The veileds! I mean, WOW! Those are easily the most beautiful I've ever seen! You breed them? If ya do, ill take one! Also, anyone have experience in free roaming chams? I read the REPTILES USA article and have been to several cham sites reading up on it. I plan on trying it in an office type room. (When I get my own house, Im only in high school!) Any specific plants, food, lights, or anything you think I should worry about? If you have pics of a free roaming set-up, please show me! Any input greatly appreciated! :D

Hey thanks for the compliments! All the pics are of my female veiled cham Rana. She is the most beautiful cham ( next to her mom) in my opinion! She's a little over two years old and never been bred. I'm too scared something might happen to her, but maybe someday!! I got her from Tyler with Blue Beast, I'll see if he will be nice enough to post some pics of her mom and dad. She has awesome genes!!!!! OH and her Brother just had babies too.... maybe Tyler can post some pics of the babies as well!!

Free ranging can work for larger chams that aren't too shy. But, you may not know if it will work for a particular cham until you try it. Be ready to give it a cage setup if the open space is too intimidating for it. Did you see the free range article on the Chameleonnews.com website? It is 2-3 years back, and was set up for meller's chameleons.

Yep, read it!

Have you tried it? I plan on a male veiled (Kammerflage Kreations). I might use it in educational shows, along with other herps. I will build a large tube cage setup (from June 06 REPTILES magazine). This will be in case it doesnt like free roaming, if it does, it will be a travel/outdoor cage. Thanks for helping!
