Elvis Update

kellybee Mar 23, 2007 04:52 AM

She is still in her lay box, I couldnt see her through the bottom this morning so I lifted the lid, she looked tired or sleepy, and looked like a sand beast, lol. I just let her go back to whatever she was doing, I might go check again at lunch time.

Yoshi also has been weird today, she isnt really one for digging, more one for climbing the walls. Today tho, she has been digging in really random spots, like walking around her viv, digging a little. taking a few steps, digging some more, a few more steps, more digging, The funny thing is she is digging with all 4 legs, and I've never seen her do that before.

Well Collared lizard eggs anyway, lol

3 of them, all a bit soft I'm afraid, will see if they harden up, I have no idea when she laid them but they were covered with 3 inches of sand so must have been a while, but we shall see. The main thing is they are out and she is eating/drinking

BTW, a full month after Yoshi started to look lumpy she has dug a big hole in the corner and looks to be pushing, like straining to go the loo, I wonder if she is trying to get hers out, she hasnt eaten today

THIRDLY...........

HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A COLLARED LIZARD THAT DOESNT SHOW GRAVID COLORATION, WHICH GOES ON TO LAY EGGS? My new Bicinctores is eating LOTS and looks REALLY lumpy

It never rains, it always pours huh?

Thankyou both

I just want Yoshi to be ok now too,

Elvis is out of her lay box and chasing crickets, the eggs are in the bator hopefully hardening up, and the lumpy bicinctores in now in the lay box. I am convinced there is some sort of a conspiracy going on, LMAO

Yoshi is still looking like she's straining yet no eggs, I really hope she is ok, hopefully they havent gone hard inside her, and she can pass them safely. Either thst or she just has constipation and is planning on burying the evidence (Or Yoda)

How hard or soft are the eggs likely to be tomorrow? I have just been in to see if they are hardening, and they feel a little squishy, very round and fat, but nonetheless, not solid?

Other eggs we have had in the past are most definitely harder than these, although they certainly vary

Eggs are a bit soft right after laying, but should firm pretty quick, some are firm after she lays.
If some time goes by and they feel squishy soft like water ballons, and do not firm up then they are usuallly infertiles.

Is this what you were asking?

Congratulations, glad she did fine and hope they firm up and hatch for you

Funny many people think the breeding part is so easy and care free/ just happens, but as you can see it is quite nerve wracking at times.

Things usually go well, but many things can go wrong. So when it does go right, it sure feels GOOD, and you breath a sigh of relief.... Until the next clutch, hehehehheee, next step that drives ya nuts are waiting for the eggs to hatch, making sure all the kids are okay, geesh...

But it is all such a magnificent thing to be a part of.

Congratulations, and best wishes sent your way

LOL
