A pairing that *may* breed this year

FunkyRes Mar 23, 2007 04:54 AM

Just wanted to share the pic because I thought it a neat contrast of two different phases. Her cream use to be a lot more yellow, it has faded.

The male is the normal looking banded (Redding, CA)
The female is non locale weird looking banded, possibly some type of hypo.

I have witnessed the male trying to mate with her, but she has not allowed it. I'm keeping them together except when they eat and a day after they eat, so maybe they have (or will) mate when I'm not watching. Who knows. Well, I guess they know

But it is a neat pairing because that female has some really weird bands, her belly is almost completely cream, and I think she is hypo because I bought her young and she was very light coloured then - Cal Kings from what I understand tend to start out black and lighten with age unless they are hypo.

Breeding should determine that after a few generations.

But anyway - I haven't seen the male try and mate since I first introduced them. Now when they are together, they are just like the picture shows - coiled up together.

I'll separate them in a week, and if she is not gravid by her next shed, try again after that shed.

She is spitting image of my Elfin Forest locale (San Diego) females.

Best of luck with that pairing.
