Metal Trough?

Waguy82 Aug 12, 2003 07:26 PM

Hi everyone! I thought I'd get creative with my bearded dragon's enclosure. Can I use a 60 gallon metal trough to house my bearded dragon? I'll probably use 50 lbs of sand and try to attach wheels so I can easily wheel it out. Would there be any problem with this?

nope, troughs are fine, just be sure you have a screen top if it is to be outside so nothing can come and swipe your dragon from the sky, o and be sure you clean it well before use

Wouldn't metal get too hot for outside use?

Oh great! Thanks for the replies. It'll be inside with UVB lighting mounted above it. I just wanted to try something different.

I'm not sure about that...metal will get very hot from the bulbs, and I'm not sure if the dragon will burn itself when it touches the side..just something to think about..

many people actually use metal troughs to house dragons in, when the light is in the middle or to one end not aimed directly on the metal sides its just fine, doesnt get any hotter then the glass in our enclosures do with the heat lamps beating down inside them.
