Ok, here is a 2nd pic of the baby boxie. I am going to have to get my daughter to take some pics of my turtles for me. She takes some beautiful photos....of course she has a wonderful camera too! Anyway......just wanted to give you another view of the baby.

Do any of you have an idea as to about how old this one would be? Do you suppose it was a baby from last spring/fall? It could have been hiding under the verbena plant that was next to the cubby I found the little thing under. Also, I am thinking that since I have looked over and over again that this is a lone survivor. If by chance the little thing came directly from under the cubby, then there is a good chance that any other eggs laid at that time were destroyed by the other boxies when they would go there to dig under during the heat of the day.

He is so tiny when you pick him up, but looking at him by a quarter, he looks really big. I don't know......guess the important thing is that he stay healthy.

I hope all of you are having a really nice day today. I have the grandkids this week-end so things are going to be hopping around here. Yesterday they helped their granddad plant some newly purchased plants in his veggie garden. They get a real kick out of seeing that you can actually get a tomato off of a plant in the yard and eat it rather than having to go to the produce department in the grocery store. They taste so much better too!

Ok....you all have a good one! Take care.............9boxies

That turtle has wonderful markings for a hatchling. It must have been very fun when you found him, a very pleasant suprize!!! I hope to experience that some day.

VERY attractive little box turtle! Such vivid markings! You are very lucky...the only two photos of your turtles that I remember seeing are of some exceptional turtles.

Based on the lack of any visible growth ring, I think that you're right. It's most likely from a late clutch last year.
