Egyptian Racers?

jennrosefx Mar 23, 2007 03:56 PM

I saw some Egyptian Racers at a petstore on a recent Vegas trip and thought they were amazing. Of course, I didn't dare tempt myself, as I know nothing about them!

Info/pics on the web seems to be slim to none. Does anyone here have any information on them (natural history, care, temperment, etc.), and photos, or even a website they can point me towards?

Thanks!

Wow! I have to say, I can't wait until your site is completed. As a fan of Eyptian history, and a fan of herps...well...need I say more? Fantastic.

Poked around a bit and looked at was pictures I could find on there. Now I'm not entirely sure what the snakes I saw were, exactly. Is there a snake simply called an "Egyptian Racer"? That's all they had them labeled as. I remember they were light brown in color, and had amazingly intense eyes. They way they held their heads reminded me of garters, but their head shape was more...lizard like? They were extremely alert animals, and their gaze would follow your movement.

Just to let you know that the site doesn't come up right in my browser. All the pics of the markings aren't lined up with the descriptions.
Using firefox 2.0.0.3 on suse linux 10.2.

Having said that it will be a nice site when finished. I now have some egyptian racers given me, though I don't know the latin. plus I have a pair of large whipsnakes, one from the balkans and the other I have no idea where from.
