Night Drop Temps - Settings?

run26neys Mar 23, 2007 08:45 PM

I am getting serious, as I replaced a cheaper thermostat with a proportional one with a night drop feature. My questions is what would be some good settings to start with for a 2 to 3 week old BRB? I was using 81 on my old thermostat, with no night drop feature, and the cool end was 72 to 73. Do I even need to use the night drop feature as long as I can keep these temps?

I also ordered a decent temp gun to aide me with exact temps. I do have a great wife - as I was using her good cooking thermometers...

Once my snakes get bigger - I plan on getting some very good cages too (with room for more cages or racks).

There is no need for a temperature drop excpet for when cooling adults prior to breeding. I actually do not use the automatic temperature drop feature when cooling adults but manually cycle the temperature a few degrees cooler some nights. As long as you are providing a temperature gradient from the low 70s at one end of the cage to the low 80s at the warm end BRBs of all ages will be fine.
