Progression of Favorite 04 Hypo...

JJsBoas Mar 24, 2007 01:58 AM

Hey everyone,

Since I won't have any babies around my way until the end of May, I thought I'd post some pics showing how my favorite Hypo girl from 2004 is progressing. I say she's my favorite Hypo because 1) she was born in my very first successful litter, 2) I think she's got some great color for being the result of a Hypo x Normal, and 3) she's a very very sweet and calm boa.

Anyway, the 1st pic is of her taking one of her first breaths after poking her head out of her birth sac. The 2nd pic is her at 1 month of age. The 3rd pic is her at 9 months.

In the next post, I'll post a pic of how she looks as of tonight.

Hope you all like.

All the best,

Jay

Well, luckily this girl just shed and so I was able to snap a few nice shots of her. Here she is at 2 1/2 yrs old.

I don't rush growth over here, which is why she's not as big as some other girls her age. I usually wait until a girl is 4 yrs old before even considering trying to breed her.

Anyhow, this girl's "darkening" up a bit, but she seems to be retaining some of her nice saddle coloration as she ages.

Hope you all enjoyed seeing her progress.

Regards,

Jay

That girls saddles are intensely colorful. That is definetely one of the nicest hypo x normal offspring I've ever seen.

As you can see, she obviously caught my eye the second I got a glimpse of the litter. I'm so very glad that I held onto her as I think she'll be a very colorful adult. Her bright red saddles and clean overall pattern is what originally helped me to decide to hold onto her. Though there were a few fairly nice hypos in the litter, she was my #1 keeper.

Thanks again for the kind words.

That girl has intense red and I like that Have you repeated this pairing since then or this year perhaps?

Thanks for the kind words Bob. Last year, I paired up the sire with another big normal girl, but there actually weren't any outstanding hypos that I really felt the need to hold on to.

However, this year, I paired up the same sire to a hypo female that had some outstanding hypos for me last year. There was one very red hypo in particular that really stood out, and I of course held on to her. The pic below is of this 06 Hypo female holdback as of last month. I also included a shot of her a few hours after birth.

That being said, I'm hoping that I'll have some very colorful and clean-looking possible super hypos this year. Due date for this hypo x hypo pairing is May 30, so please keep your fingers crossed. I'm very excited about this pairing and am constantly checking up on the female. I'm hoping the next 2 months fly by.

Anyhow, thank you again for your comments.

Jay

and your holdback last month looks really red even just after birth too so the best of luck for both of 'em and especially your litter in a couple of months. Post pics of them occassionally but not to many, cuz too many bright ones are bad for the eyes

Will do. I'll keep the pics coming as these girls get older. Hopefully their color, especially their saddles, retains that nice red as they age. There are so many other boas out there that "hurt" the eyes, so thank you again for the nice comments about my humble lil gals.
