Our new baby Red Bullsnake

Chopper110 Aug 12, 2003 08:21 PM

Hello everyone,
My wife and I went to the All Maryland Reptile show this weekend. And as usuall, we brought home some new babies. Our new little girl was listed as a Red Bullsnake. I'm not as familiar with the bullsnakes as I am my boas and pythons, so I will accept her just as she is. She already has a great disposition, and we just think she is gorgeous. We named her Cochese. Hopefully I can upload the pics first time, but just in case be patient with me...lol

Thanks,
Robert E. Langley Sr

I was there and grabbed two of those. That's a little out of character for me because I prefer the locality specific stuff, but these are nice. Mine show alot of color already. He said they were west Texas but you know...whatever. They're nice anyway, and healthy. They ate readily already.

West Texas? Could be a Sonoran, too. Some of those get some nice red in them (like the ones near Fort Davis), but are really gophersnakes even though people still call them bullsnakes.

The picture is of a small Fort Davis bullsnake.

The heads on these guys screams bullsnake. Maybe they're crosses, who knows. If and when the novelty wears off, I'll give you a call, lol.

That should say, "The picture is of a small Fort Davis GOPHERsnake.

Old habits die hard - even with me - don't they. The books used to say that only El Paso County had gophersnakes, but that is incorrect. Recent data has shown that the snakes in this area doiwn to Brewster County are gophersnakes with bullsnakeXgophersnakes occuring just around the Trans Pecos east to around Juno rd in Val Verde County. Soooooooo, poohead or whatever your name is today....lol, IF they came from the Fort Davis area, they'd be gophersnakes from right near the intergrade zone and somewhat variable because of that.

for you, but when you see something you like and want to have, then that sometimes guides your decision. I know you won't try to come up with locality for locality sake and they will always be nice looking. It's when someone tries to come up with something that may not be there that gets things confused. It is a pretty looking snake.
