Incubation Question

kohr Mar 24, 2007 08:56 AM

I have eggs in our hovabator and a digital thermometer in there. The question is about the difference between the ambient temperature read on the digital thermometer and the surface temperature I read on my temp gun. I am getting about 88 on my digital thermometer (ambient) and about 79 on my temp gun (egg and egg substrate surface temperature). What temperature do I want to go with? I know Leopard Geckos are TDS so this difference in temperature is very frustrating when trying to set the incubation temperature.

Thank You

it sounds like one of your thermometers is off by a good bit. Once something sits in an incubator long enough the surface and air temps should be the same. I would check the temp with a third thermometer, analog if you have one.
