not eating? help?

killr_silhouette Mar 24, 2007 10:04 AM

i have an albino boa that i have had for about a month...

she fed fine for the first few weeks on f/t adult mice...

but she hasn't eaten for the past 2 weeks, tonight will be the 3rd week...

she WAS shedding inbetween the last 2 meals, and so that may be the cause...

but i am curious when i should start getting worried... all of my other snakes eat no problem, even when shedding...

what should i do if she doesnt eat tonight?

thanks,
jessica

This is not a long period for a boa to not eat so I wouldnt get worried just yet. Has she shed her skin yet? How are your temps and does she have hides? If she hasnt shed her sking yet then I would bet she will eat after she does. My boas always refuse to eat while shedding.

she does have hides, but she prefers to always curl up on a branch in her cage.... i have a heat pad & lamp on her...

she shed her skin the other day, so perhaps she will eat tomorrow night...

Looks like your boa has an underbite. I don't think that it will cause it to stop eating, but it's not something I would be happy about.

yes she does have an underbite, i got her for a discount price...i dont plan on breeding her, she is a pet only.

the underbite doesnt affect her at all, it just gives her character....

she does tend to get fuzzies in her mouth, but she is very patient with me getting them out
