'07 Red Albinos Born!!!

mdc Mar 24, 2007 12:54 PM

I came home last night after a long week of work to find these little gems squirming around. Notice how red the eyes are on the albinos. Total count was 11 albinos and 12 hets. I love the smell of baby boas.

Man those are nice! Just when I thought I had seen some of the nicest albinos around from your last litter, you go and have some with striping. That zig-zag patterned albino is awesome. Congratulations!!!

mdc Mar 24, 2007 01:24 PM

Thanks Steve. I was so happy with the results from last year that I repeated the same breeding. These look different from last year, but still very nice, IMHO. These have super super red eyeballs, which I think is odd, but kind of cool. What do you think of the eyes?

Matt

sdi Mar 24, 2007 03:57 PM

I think the eyes may be a precurser of the body color. I have seen salmons that have red eyes as babies and develope into very colorful adults. Just a thought, lets hope it is true in this case.

brett beiner Mar 24, 2007 01:24 PM

How do they compare to your previous clutch?

mdc Mar 24, 2007 01:27 PM

Hey Brett,

I think they are going to be about the same as last year, but I'll know more after they shed. The only disappointing part is there isn't one that sticks out as much as one special one last year. Any knew pics? I miss him, lol, he was such a calm and inquisitive animal.

Thanks John. I like the striped one too, it's just too bad it wan't an albino. I know, that's a little greedy, but it would have been nice.

produced that last litter of red albinos. Time flys! Big congrats on that litter, they look stunning. I really like that striper too!

God, that striped het looks great!! Did the parents have any sort of striping at all, or did that lil striper just pop out of nowhere? Regardless, nice healthy-looking litter. And those red eyes on the albinos are a great look.

Congrats...Jay

... some really nice albinos there and where did the cool striped het come from? Wasn't the father a stripe line albino?

mdc Mar 24, 2007 09:30 PM

Shane,
The dad was an albino het stripe, but that is the first striped one to pop out in two litters (approx. 40 babies), so I'm sure it's a fluke. Nice surprise though. Too bad it wasn't an albino.

I would think they were Sunglows. With the exception of the tails thats what they look like.
