>>If those are from Mike H. stock, he got his first ones from me. A close friend of mine caught the founding stock in the hunt club. I've worked with this bloodline for 25 years. Take care! John Meltzer
That's whatI was told by Mike. So, that's ~4 generations, right? They are great looking animals, but all the ones I've had have been pretty weak. I chalked it up to the babies getting too hot during shipping, and these adults are of an unknown age, but the females don't strike me as being young. The male seems the youngest of the group, but is a VERY laid-back, non-agressive breeder. I chalked it up to age. Now I wonder if they just need to be outcrossed badly.
I did outcross the male to an unrelated F1 Jasper County cornsnake. I p[lanned to keep some line-breed babies and some outcrossed ones to compare their growth, etc. I'm curious to see if they are comparable since they'll be born here and never shipped. These adults have changed hands at least thrice to get from Mike to me. That would stress out ANY snake regardless of what it is.....lol.
Anywya, thanks for the added information. You did a good job selecting these guys for coloration and pattern. Any chance you have an image of the original WC's that could be laid side-by-side to these guys after 2 decades of selective breeding? That would be an interesting post!
