Hot Herps legal???

clawskitty Mar 24, 2007 08:32 PM

Ok. Im confused. Are venomous reptiles allowed in Canada? Wether it be in the City or the outskirts? Im trying to figure out wether I should find a new home for the ones that I have and purchase others when I move to Canada, OR if I can bring the ones that I already own and know. Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Venomous herbs are not banned for all of Canada. However, some provinces and cities may have bans on them. Best thing to do is check with the provincial laws regarding exotic pets or contact the Ministry of Fish and Wildlife of the appropriate province to inquire about a province wide ban (I don't know of any myself). Most major cities in Ontario I do know, have banned the keeping of any venomous reptiles (ie gila monsters or venomous snakes). If you let me know the city you are thinking of moving into (and what province) I may be able to look it up for you.

We will be moving to Winnipeg in Mannitoba. Thank you for the help, and I'm sorry I didnt get back to you any sooner. Packing takes a lot of time when I have to write it all down!
