Hello everyone,
I just wanted to share a little observation that I came to knotice these past couple of weeks. For about a year now, I have been doing much research on diferent ways to care for uros in captivity. I stumbled upon Proexotics website and began a months work of reading about their techniques and philosopies on caring for uros. Finally 4 weeks ago, I put it all to the test. I setup my baby ornate with about 1.5 feet of a burowable soil and a basking high "radient" temp of 130 degrees plus. I also used the Retes stack technique, which seems to work terific.
Anyway, when I started out, the uro was only 8 grams. He now is 25 grams and has gone through 2 complete sheds! He is burrowing, basking, and thriving...which for me as a keeper makes me feel great! His system works extreamly fast as far as metabolism rates go.
By the way, as a side note, I have a 1 year old mali uro who is kept on a washed and screaned play sand. He is also 25 grams...at ONE YR of age....basically what I'm getting at is that I will never go back to play sand again
.
I am so thrilled to see this! I just wanted to share my two sence
.
-Paul
