What Should I Do??????

TonyC130 Mar 25, 2007 12:12 AM

Hi everyone I wanted to ask every Tortoise owner how I should do this. Tonight was my uncles birthday, I got home about an hour ago (I live in SoCal so at 9) and just had to ask this. My uncles neighbor is from Italy and does'nt really know how to care for his 5 Sulcatas (1 24 Y/O Male and its lifetime 24 Y/O mate, and 3 of their offspring, about 5 years old each) so his daughter who is an adult primarily does care for them, and as I was talking to her about them a little bit ago she told me all their information about how the origional owner was a breeder who was sick and had to get rid of them and gave them to her dad because he has a large yard, well we talked some more and she asked ME IF I WANTED THEM! Of course I do, I have a large yard and have been looking into getting one for years now and to come across a pair this good for free is great. But, and here comes the question, I'm only 17 and my dad was a little reluctant so what could I say to him to persuade him to let me get them???????? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Tony C

I'm way older than 17 so I don't have to ask anyone. If it were me I'd take them. I could not keep that many but I'd take them, get them healthy & then adopt some of them out to people I know would give them proper care. Adopting them out can be difficult because it's hard to find responsible people to adopt.
If you could do that you'd be doing them a favor- saving their lives & you are at a good age to adopt sulcatas because you'll have them for the rest of your life & then you can will them to your children in 60 years or so.
