For folks with outdoor cages

el_toro Mar 25, 2007 04:48 PM

I'm making a sunning cage for Rorschach soon. If the sunny sides are done with 1/4" hardware cloth (wire), will she hurt herself on it? Do I need to find soft mesh instead?

Torey,
I would go with at least 3/8" wire cloth.
Too much filtration from the beneficial
uvb rays in my opinion with the 1/4" size.
Most of my outdoor cages are built with
1/2" mesh but I do have a few with 3/8" for
hatchlings and smaller herps.

I use the regular galvanized but you can
also purchase the coated if you prefer.

I have outdoor cages in use for most of
the year with various herps from uros
to collareds.
