feeding rates and mice

maybe someone can answer this what is the best humand way to kill mice and rats? I have always bought them frozen but thinking of mating my rats and geting mice to mate

I've never been able to bring myself to do the the dislocation method so we use carbon dioxide to kill our rats. I just stick 'em in a bucket with a lid and fill it with gas. They die very quickly and (seemingly) without trauma. I'm not sure what this setup would cost as I happened to have a carbon dioxide regulator and bottle sitting around. I can tell you it costs me $11 for a 5 lb. bottle on exchange and it lasts a very long time.
