Handling is comming along well.

Kicksome123 Mar 25, 2007 09:14 PM

I handled "Dallah"(Thats what I named her!) tonight and everything went well. She struck at air twice and I held her in one hand with no contact from the other hand until I put her back in the cage. Like I said she never struck at me unless she diddnt like my face to much and then she struck at something else maybe just a shadow but I will just giving yall a update on her so yep. I hope everyone likes the name I gave her!

That's an awsome name. Abby struck many of times and i got pissed when it happens too often. Today over a week later and one meal down and as long as she is in one hand i can move her to my other free hand or other objects i wish. Neat trick, wait until outside time.

I dont think I will be taking Dallah outside for a whillleee. If I lose her out there, theres no telling what will happen. Two days ago I had to go to the shed early in the morning and in front of it what a dead ratsnake and a kingsnake sitting right next to it. I burried the rat snake and shewed away the kingsnake. Nah uh, not for a while =P Will post up more pics soon though!

Well she finally managed to nip me last night xD she was in my hand an now she always wants to jump outta my hand into the floor for some reason and when she jumped out of my hand I went down to pick her up and I guess I moved to fast and bam got my index finger. Diddnt even hurt neeeaarrr as bad as I thought it would but now im not afraid to get bit lol.

it wouldn't really hurt. The hardest thing is to learn to NOT pull back when they bite. I've litterally launched a baby across the room. It struck and bit, I pulled back, it let go and went flying....wheeeeeeeeee....splat. Damn they are tough, didn't even phase it.

so for her to jump out of my hand(maybe a 2 feet fall) onto carpet for sure wont hurt her. My brother was telling me that this could probably hurt something but he knows nothing about snakes.

Wellll, nothing's "for sure". All I can say is I've dropped them from higher and launched a couple much further onto linoleum and none have shown any signs of injury. Still, I do avoid that if at all possible.

I don't really have any brb's that want to bite but I have a couple that I have a little trouble with re-establishing contact with them after they slither out of my hand(s). But all in all, they are feisty and demand respect and your full attention or they will take it out ya WHACK!! Gotta love them though cuz they are sooooooo pretty.
