I have this acrylic aquarium that I'm turning into a cage. My question is do you think a UTH would be a good heat source? Would it be safe on the acrylic?
Thanks

It should be safe as long as you use a dimmer or thermostat. Nice looking cage by the way. What's going into it and what's the dimensions. You said it was a aquarium, how did you make the door?
Thanks. My surinam Red-tail is going in it. The cage measures 48x15x15. I had the local glass shop cut and shape the plexiglass for the door the white protective paper is still on it that will be the last thing to come off.
A problem that can happen with acrylic and heat pads is that the bottom could warp when the acrylic over the heat pad is much warmer than the surrounding acrylic.
A better approach is either overhead heat, or a heat pad that goes inside the cage.
For a large boa, I believe overhead heat is better, along with a temperature controller.
You can use red heat bulbs or a radiant heat panel.
Kane heat mats are fantastic, but even the smallest one may be too large for your cage. See www.beanfarm.com to see sizes.
