Here's another "What is this morph"

barker109 Mar 26, 2007 12:16 AM

Sorry for the question. I'm not really a corn person but this one came with some others I bought. Pretty neat but I don't know what it is. If anyone can help me out it would be great!
Thanks so much!
Karen

I would guess AneryA motley striped but I'm no expert and I don't have experience first hand with motley and striped in corns.

On a side note the first thing I thought when I saw the pattern is "OK, who let the suboc into the corns room?" hehe. Not that I suspect it a hybrid, just thost stripes/ H shaped blotches are more reminicent of what I'm used to seeing in subocs then in corns.

Hopefully someone better in the know of corn morphs can let us know for sure what it is.

Im not sure, send it to me and let me investigate further lol.

I'd go with the above post personally, but I'm not as good at picking out the different morphs. It's a pretty one though!

Thanks for the response folks. Sean, what is suboc.....? I don't have a clue...LOL!
Take care,
Karen

lol np. suboc = Bogertophis subocularis = Trans-Pecos Rat Snake

I'll attach a couple photo's of mine so you can see their pattern.

Forgive the pic's as they don't really show the neck stripes or a bunch of pattern but the photo gallery for some reason won't let me log on to post the better pics.

Hey Sean,
Thanks for those pics. I definitely see the similarities. Her base color has a pinkish tan, almost with a little lavender in the right light. I will say she is unique.
Until later!
Take care,

I agree, probably anery A motley/stripe. It is light so it is possibly an anery B (charcoal) but most likely the first.... Whatever it is it is unique.

She really is unique. She had a male counter part but he escaped from the previous owners. That makes me sad. I'm not sure what I will do with her next year but I will definitely use her. Good experimental material!

Well,...I see it has a fair amount of yellow on the neck area, this is typical of the anerythristic(A) gene, whereas charcoal is anery.(B) and has very little(if any) yellow. Also, it's coloration is on the light side, so it could very well be a "ghost-motley". The "ghost" mutation is a combination of two recessive genes, one being anery.(A), ....the other being hypomelanism(reduced dark pigment). And finally, the "motley" recessive gene,...........so this would make the snake "triple-homozygous"(showing all three traits). .....there's a VERY strong possibility that this is what your snake is!.........Doug

Hi Doug,
Thanks for your reply. I thought about ghost too. Like I was telling Sean, her base color is a pinkish tan with possibly a little lavender in there. Her pattern stripes are actually more of a dark brown. Would that fit with the ghost/anery/motley breeding? If you get a chance, let me know!
Take care,
Karen Barker

pinkish/tan, lavenderish, and brown stripes/blotches are all "text-book" for "ghost", so unless it's eyes are deep, deep "ruby-red", it is probably a ghost,...also, "ghosts" many times tend to have blueish colored eyes as well!
hope this helped, ................................Doug

im placin bets on ghost motley/stripe.
its got a little yellow which is common but its light enough that its a good probability that its a ghost.imho

I've looked at some ghost and she really seems to resemble them.
I really appreciate the feed back. Now the quest for a mate...LOL!
Take care, and again thank-you for the feedback.
