Best Heat Panels to use??

susanpearl Aug 12, 2003 09:42 PM

Hi,

I will be acquiring several large cages 36X24X18 within the next week. I wanted to heat them using radiant heat panels. I've heard many positive things about heat panels.

Can anyone recommend a brand?
Also, your opinion/experience with heat panels?

Please let me know

HPs are nice because they can heat a large area and won't do damage to the skin if touched while on full.

There are three brands that I know of: Helix, Pro-Products and Enerjoy. All work nicely. The Helix ones have a hard plastic surface that is truly resistant to humidity and splashes.

Check out the Bean Farm (Suppliers section on this site.)

More important is the size you need rather than the brand, and Helix for example only makes a few sizes.

I'm very pleased with Pro Products. I'm using a bunch of them and have been for years. Pro Products customer service is great -- just call Bob Pound and he will make sure you get the proper size and he'll tell you how to install/use it. I only use radiant heat panels because they can't be beat.
