pooping issues?

Angel3wolf Mar 26, 2007 04:43 PM

I hate to be asking this question but my ball python has not poop for 2 weeks now. I feed her 1 time a week and she is a good eater so i was wondering if this is normal for ball pythons to go that long if not what do I need to do?

she is 5 to 6 months old and is 24 inches long and she is a normal color ball not sure on the sex just call it she. i have had the temp. up at 90 all day and she has been basking in it all day and has been shoking in her water trying to poop which she never shokes in her water at all except for shedding time she mite a little. I have had her for 1 month now and she has poop 3 times sence i have had her but it has been 2 weeks now sence she has poop. so i am worried and think i need to take her to the vet. in the moring. i guess i am a over protective mom. i know to alot of people she is just a snake but to me she is my baby and i do love her very much.

I'm anxious to see what sort of answer you get on this. I am in the exact same situation. BP about 2 1/2 feet long, fed once a week, no poop in about 2-3 weeks. Mine recieves very indirect sunlight. I never really see him soak in his dish, so I've held him in a little tub of water a couple times. Spritz him with water every once in a while. His heating lamp is red, I don't know if thats uva or uvb.

I have Balls (Royals Lol) of all ages and they all pass at least a couple of weeks apart, maybe longer. They pass urates a bit more often though. Hope this helps.

I know every snake is different, but my ball didn't poop for at least 2-3 months. She was fed every week or every other week. I was really concerned she might be impacted but she finally took a poop that looked like a dog's...your snake might be fine. Then again, it might not, and it probably wouldn't hurt to take it to the vet and get it checked out. Has your snake ingested anything that it shouldn't have at feeding time, like substrate??
