Took a Classic idea and remixed it..
Made a Deer Fern style nest box w/ a longer tube- cut a hole in the wall- Ah... dry basking-less dry burrowing...they LOVE it... back and forth all day! I will gadually increase the size and depth of the "burrows" as they grow and acclimate to the situation. One thing is for sure-They need to dig! They've all used their digs except my oldest, who is always apprehensive of anything new, but she will. I also see their skin looks nicer, and it helps toe sheds. Not too wet or humid, though, don't want any tail rot(nasty) or resp. infections. So far- better than it's ever been.

You give them proper temperatures with many thermal gradients to choose from, tail rot won't even be a worry! The lizard will choose his temps and if it seems to be a bit to humid for the lizard, he will bask at hotter temps to relieve his body of the water vapor in th air that can sapposely cause tail rot

Also I'm still a firm believer in a soil setup...I just can't comprehend the idea of making a "man made burrow" through tubbing, You have obviously knoticed their "NEED" for digging, so why not give it to them???
