New pics of the little male

waspinator421 Mar 27, 2007 10:13 AM

This little guy shed a few days ago, and I finally got some pics. In sunlight his front 1/3 seems to be a greenish color, but am having a difficult time capturing it. The last picture shows it best, what do you think?

Thanks for the compliments! Ok, glad to hear from an expert that it is green. I've never seen a green one in person before, so I wasn't sure.

LOL! Yeah, now I'm not so sure what I'm going to do with him. I really like his pattern, and that greenish part on him looks pretty neat. I haven't named him yet, because I know that once you name something, it's not going anywhere.

I see green all the way on my end Aubrey, more than just the first 1/3. And that great burgundy red of his is mighty nice too. Great looking snake! Looks like he could have been wild collected from the same population as Tim's wild female.

Better pick a name fast and keep that guy!

All the way down, huh? Do the green thayeri usually lose this green as they age, or does some of it remain?

Mike, you are not helping! I was trying to convince myself to wait and see what pops out this season before deciding if I was going to keep him. This is hard, but I think I am kidding myself. I probably will end up keeping this guy, lol!

I've only raised a few greenies so I can't speak from a lot of experience, but mine all held on to one sort of an interesting green or another. That guy of yours has a really cool wild look about him and I like it.

Looks like his name begins with the letter "A", as in that lowercase "a" that I see in his nuchal marking.....

I know St. Patty's day is gone by already but I felt nostalgic. He's a good looking male. You'll just have to wait and see what his colors will do.

I have/had a yellow female named Gladys but she's looking more of a greenish mostly because she's developed a bit of grayish in her scales.

Here she is.

Thanks Chris! Oh, and I just love those "old-fashioned" names for your Thayeri... very unique!

That's one outstanding Thayeri Aubrey. I absolutely go ape-shot for the green ones. If you decide you don't want him let me know. lol. Who did you get him from?

waspinator421 Mar 28, 2007 05:22 PM

Thanks Ken! I got him from Larry Briggs at Rock Canyon Ranch along with two others. We're thinking that he was probably produced by Alec Estabrooks of Peace River Herps, but can't be 100% sure. I'll definetely let you know if I do decide to let him go. He is growing on me though, but I'm trying my best not to get too attached yet.
