So I went out yesterday and got my first snake from this very ncie, and inteligent lady at PETCO! The only thing is, is that my new snake likes to just hide under the newspaper in the critter cage all day long... is this normal? I will be on here alot because I am new with a snake and thanks in advance for your help!

Yep, that's normal - corn snakes spend the majority of their time hiding - especially babies and juveniles.
