My brown and my green anole... just a couple questions...

hhawk20005 Aug 12, 2003 10:30 PM

i just got my green famale today, and added her to the cage with my other brown male anole. my male anole is so hyper. i can almost never see him sleep, and he is always so very skiddesh. after i put the female in, she took a look around for about 5 minutes, and then she just fell asleep. i thought something might be wrong with her, so i moved the leaf that she was on, and she started to move around again, she then had a drink, and then made her way to the other side of the tank... by now, it was about 9:30. she then went back to sleep after i turned the uv off... i was just woindering if it was normal for her to be SO calm around me. i could have picked her up multiple times, and i could never even get my hand near the male to pick him up. is there any reason for this? please get back to me...

is she just calm or listless? you should quarentine her before putting her with an established male! that is a good way to kill your brown anole. she probably has a lot of parasites since she is prolly wild caught.

Hi,

It doesnt have to be a disease, it could be stress to. After all shes been caught and moved into a new envoirement. Just leave her alone for a while and dont pick her up , this will cause more stress.

I would like to add that a quarantaine period is recomended. Wild caugt animals often cary a lot of worms or other deseases.

do you think that it is too late to quarentine her? she seems to be fine to me as she is eating and drinking already...
