Hey Lone Star Herpers,

I will be in Austin on business in early Oct. I am not looking for spots secret or otherwise; just seeking if this time of year will offer up any finds if I go looking?

Thank you ahead of time,

Dr. G

Hello,

You might still be able to find some G. liocephalus. Some of the areas off of Hwy. 360 are great areas to find them. My parents have a house that backs up to a large ravine in Austin, and you should be able to find some there. Feel free to e-mail me. Days still get pretty warm around that area in Oct., so you might be able to spot them catching some rays in the late afternoon.

It should be a good time to come. Late February and all of March this year were my best months for field herping. I'm assuming that October - November will be just as productive. Although you have to be careful, illegal dumping sites always seem to be productive.
