yes, it was all editing that has led to this confusion.
Although I have not met the individual who got bit (Weathers), the footage has been aired all over tv numerous times. The monocled cobra was pinned behind the head and was about to be put back into the rubbermaid slide bin. As he released, the snake sprung back off the rear wall of the bin and bit him in the stomach. The footage shown in that little montage just shows the part where he gets bit.
The snake that was flailing all around on the hook was obviously a forest cobra. The video editor chose to put the flailing forest cobra just before he cut to the scene of him being bit by an entirely different snake (the monocled cobra).
So, everyone is right here. He was being bit by a monocled cobra and that was a forest cobra thrashing around on that hook trying to bite.
On a side note, did anyone notice him shake his hand like he was maybe bit by that forest cobra? I am wondering if it was maybe a venomoid. I know the reputation of the individual who got bit and he isn't a "venomoid guy", so I'm not trying to go down that road. I believe Weathers is a legit venomous handler and not showboating with venomoids. That forest got really close to him on a number of occasions, although it could have been angle. Regardless, that snake was pretty insane. Needless to say, I'm not quite up to forest cobra skill level yet and have never worked with one.
