hatchling uro died

mike3 Aug 12, 2003 10:52 PM

i am sorry to tell u guys but my sick hatchling just died. It peacefully died while i was holding it in my hand gently petting it. One death is enough for this week, i hope my two eggs hatch soon and are healthy hatchlings. I just named the hatchling flakes because it was light in color and very peaceful just like snow flakes. I am going to bury it in my frontyard and give it a rock tomb stone. The last time i burried a pet in my back yard my dog dug it up and brang it in the house to show me. That was not a pretty sight. Well everyone has to go sometime so i guess this was flakes time to go.

I am sorry your hatchling passed away. I know his life was short, but you loved him and cared for him which is more than some animals ever will know. Hope the rest of your babies are doing ok and that you will have success with the last eggs you are waiting for.

Hello-First, I am sorry to hear about your hatchling.
They are so vulnerable and helpless it is hard to see them die at so young an age.
Secondly, I would like to say that in the wild they would be under so many more pressures in order to survive that the vast majority would probably perish. By captive breeding you not only ensure that the animals have the best homes, temperatures and food items, but you remove the exisitence of one more pressure to those animals that are trying to make it in the wild-Collection for the pet trade.
Good luck with the rest of your hatchlings.
Ed
