corn snake shedding

sc0rp10n Mar 28, 2007 07:42 PM

My corn snake shedded for the first time ive had it yesterday. I tried feeding it today since it has not ate since I bought. Ive had it about 2 weeks. How long after shedding will they not eat. I tried using feeding tongs and tapping it on the nose with the pinky and leaving it in the box I put it to feed it with the lights off in the room for about half an hour and it still will not eat. Any suggestions?

What I would suggest is to put the snake into a feeding container with an appropriate size mouse and then putting the entire feeding container into his cage overnight. Do not leave the feeding box on top of the hot side. Make sure that the feeding box has ventilation and a good fitting lid. Only check in the morning (don't keep going and checking it all night), and I bet the mouse will be gone.

with no interaction at all before trying to feed him. Sometimes you have to let them recover from shedding and human interaction before they will eat.
