Been a while since this type thread ran here so, please reply with a pic of yourself and any info you'd like to share.

I'm Dave Colling,
Been keeping herps for 20 years.
I grew up in Ohio and central California and always found cool stuff to catch and play with.
Been happily married to the same wonderful woman for 19 years, and have two daughters, 12 and 15.
Just passed my 25th year service anniversary working for IBM. Wow, can't believe I've been working here so long. Where did all that time go?
My hobbies include woodworking, helps with caging and I even built my own kitchen cabinets from scratch.
I am also into watersports - waterskiing, barefoot skiing etc. We enjoy camping at a nearby lake which is where this pic came from. Some other campers were throwing rocks etc. at a "rattlesnake" I went over and rescued the big bad gopher snake and relocated it away from the campground.

Dave just relax and take a deep breath. Turn around and take your first left not right and u should run into it. Do not stop for lunch (I know u like them long lunches too) and you should be there in no time.

see...this is why i hate this forum style. Its so...Not practical. Cause theres no way to bump up the popular threads. they just keep going down, and eventually get forgotten.

coluberking25 Mar 29, 2007 12:17 PM

...I posted this already and the only responses to it were to Jeff about carp fishing. Why the responses were there and not furhter up...I don't know.

My name's Scott. I've been keeping reptiles for about 7 years(then again I'm horrible at math...it started in 7th grade and am now a freshman in college). It started with a hatchling painted turtle which is still alive and under my care today. I was not able to keep many herps throughout the years(no thanks to parents) but have also kept a gopher snake, garter snakes, toads, box turtles, water snakes, spring peepers, fence lizards, mostly US herps. My current collection is under my "signature" at the bottom of this post.

Aside from keeping reptiles and amphibians, I also go field herping as volunteer work for my state(which will go unknown for my safety...I hope you understand). I go out to my assigned block, record the herps I find(stats such as species, gender, number of the species, etc.), and send my recordings to the department of fish and wildlife.

Herps make up about 98% of my life. Ever since I learned the word "herpetologist" in 3rd grade, I knew from that moment that's what I wanted to be. I am in college and planning to major in zoology.

I also like to fish, particularly for largemouth bass. Where I fish is full of only two pounders and one elusive five pounder. Man, they sure are fun to catch!

The picture below is of me with one of my newest passions: the guitar. I picked it up last semester, and already I can play Dick Dale's "Miserlou"(aka the Pulp Fiction theme song).

Well Scott I always pictured you as young since you said you were in school but thought you would be either a little overweight or steroided cuz I have always associated Rocky with you since that is your prized possession and all. I want to see a pic of that albino rat if you don't mind Scott and who wants to see a youtube video of Scott playing the Pulp Fiction song? I do I do lol cuz that song ROCKS!! I have read in a lot of posts for this tread that damn near everyone goes out in the field so I might have to try that one time. Good luck in school and n/p

...on the Youtube video thing. My friend made me promise not to ever post a video on youtube of me playing guitar. True guitarists don't post videos to try to impress lol. Then again...maybe I would if he never found out lol.

Bob, where the heck is a photo of you!?! I see all these comments you make to everyone else's, but you don't post your pic! Are you chicken? BAWKBAWKBAWK!!! lol just kidding, but post a pic up!

My name is Bob Delaune and I'm about 26 years old and I have the best 6 six year old son on earth. I haven't really been around reptiles until about 8 years ago when a friend had a green iguana and then I met another friend's brother-in-law who keeps retics and tree pythons with a even mix of w/c and cbb. My first time actually being around a snake was his albino retic about 6 years ago and really didn't know anything other than they bite, eat and poop and believed snakes were bad cuz I was never brought up around animals other than dogs here in LA (I live 5 miles west of N.O.) and hurricanes are not cool haha lol I have been keeping snakes for a few years and own a bci, bcc, and a few brazilians and hope to add a few more to the collection. Recently I was rear-ended by a female driving a SUV and that b--ch totaled my track car in the blink of an eye. So I have been unable to work since OCT.3 and I hate staying home with a bad back as I am an outdoor fanatic when it is not 100 plus for some of the six months of summer we have over here. I enjoy anything and everything to do with my son especially sports, I used to run 12 miles a week before the accident and now I'm lucky if I can stand up in the grocery store line waiting to get checked out haha lol but serious. Other sports other than running with my i-pod would be fast cars and anything to get your adrenaline going from them while having control of the vehicle, and staying in shape period. I also love saltwater tanks and really like all the different angels and tangs, like cats but my allergies but I love the persians anyway, bearded dragons and anything that has to do about the knowledge of reptiles either t.v. or internet since I can't work and overall just love learning new stuff. Well here is a nasty pic of me (pretty much right before a haircut) and ten pounds lighter since the wreck and my little replica next to me is my son Dominick. Sorry it's big and I couldn't make it smaller so sorry.

Bob,
..Your back pain sounds a lot like mine. Standing on a hard floor waiting in a check out line was the pits. I have had chiropractor visits, physical therapy, steroid pills, steroid injections and all of them helped a little. The best relief comes from inversion therapy. I bought an inversion table on Ebay and it was by far the best thing I have done for my back problem. Hanging upside down for 5 to 10 minutes once or twice a day takes a lot of the pressure off my herniated disc and made it possible for me to stop using narcotics for the pain. I am currently comfortable being a lazy couch potato. When I try to do anything involving lifting or bending and stretching it gets uncomfortable. Like you I have gained some weight being so inactive. I am ready to get this fixed and get my active life back. I will post a PIC of my new ride in a couple days.
Good luck,
Jeff

a CORVETTE????? Yeah that back pain stuff is a real drag and I haven't had no pain medicine prescribed in over three months and the elderly lady that plowed me payed off her 1.5 year old tank dropped full coverage to liablility and then destroyed my track car that I put about 9k in and only got 5k back from insurance so after getting screwed over and over again by everybody under the sun on this whole ordeal and I was at a dead stop for like two minutes on top of this bridge and BAM!! She hit me so hard my a/c vents popped out of place, my rear subframe was bent, she made both rear quarter panels buckle a little and about a 12 inch slit of daylight that is easily viewable from the inside of the car. So almost six months have went by and I have yet to find out my results from my mri and numerous X-rays for my right shoulder and chest area but that is the horrible state of Louisiana at its best. The best thing for my back is to lay on it with two pillows in the middle of my back forcing my shoulders backwards (I have real problem of being hunched over at the shoulders since the wreck) but you should here my chest bone crack Jeff, it sounds scary and not to good of a noise might I add.

On another note Jeff, I saw your pic of you on the boa forum and knew you had many snakes but 75 is a big number and I really liked the background of the pic in the boa forum also with those snake display cages behind you. Take care and nice chatting with you.

Jeff Clark Mar 31, 2007 11:55 PM

Bob,
..The PIC I posted on the Boa forum was taken in a local reptile shop. It is setup with the animal room nearly all black with the lights inside the cages providing most of the illumination. A Corvette? Interesting. I will post a PIC in a couple days.
