A Question For Jiffypop...

Brock Aug 13, 2003 12:07 AM

What kind of lizard is Azul? This is my first time in this forum, and that is one nice looking lizard. How big does he get, whats the latin name, how much would one like that cost, and could it be a free roamer like a dog or house cat, are they mellow or aggressive (or do they get aggressive at 'puberty'), and where could I get one in Canada.

Sorry for all the questions, but that is a nice looking lizard.

Brock, thanks for the nice comments concerning Azul. He is one handsome lizard, at least in my opinion. He is a Cyclura lewisi (Grand Cayman Blue Iguana) hybrid, 5 years old. He was bred by Chris Domino, whom I believe is no longer breeding Cyclura. These Cyclura can reach lengths of 4-5 feet and weigh up to 25 pounds. They are extremely intelligent. Azul and his mate, MiMi, are freeroamers and are quite docile. Azul can be quite stubborn sometimes but he's not aggressive at all.

If you have any further questions feel free to email me altho I'll be in Daytona Beach for a long weekend and probably won't respond until next week. Also, please visit www.Cyclura.com to read more about these magnificent, almost extinct animals.

Recently emailed Chris, he does not have any cyclura and is tired of getting inquiries.

Thanks John. I haven't had any contact with Chris since shortly after I got Azul. He was quite uninterested and even a little rude then.
